SNNLive caught up with Dennis Calvert, President & CEO of BioLargo, Inc. at the Growth Capital Expo 2015 in Las Vegas, NV.
“BioLargo is a technology company that’s invented a series of platform technologies all focused on the molecular iodine and the mechanics of using molecular iodine; and the big break for BioLargo is in the water treatment area. We also have wound care products and consumer products. We like to say everything we do makes life better – so we focus on air, land, healthcare, food…all sorts of really important environmental and things that make life better; that’s what we do. We essentially invent, we patent, we prove and we partner – so we’re an intellectual property licensing company focused on exploiting our science through partnership around the globe,” Mr. Calvert begins.
We last spoke with Dennis in December 2014 (See here: Update with BioLargo: How to Combat Bold Water Treatment Claims? Achieve Highest Third-Party Validation for 'AOS Filter' Technology), and in this interview, while at the conference in Las Vegas, he provides an update, “We’re now in the process of taking those basic claims and refining the design for commercial piloting. So, we’ve got eight projects underway, two commercial pilots; we’ve received a series of grant supports from the provincial and federal government of Canada, and it’s expanding dramatically. We’ve built out a research team on campus at the University (of Alberta), and so now our ideas have turned into reality and they’re in preparation of going commercial. The idea of being able to take that technology and impact the global water market is a pretty bold statement, but when you rise above the competition with such a bold claim and you focus on licensing through partnership, we believe that’s exactly what will happen; we can make life better.”
