Adhere2Care is a specialized software application development company created in 2011 with expertise in healthcare data collection and communications network engineering. The company’s applications and network infrastructure have been developed to provide life saving care at the point of greatest need – whether it be in a chronically ill patient’s home, an area ravaged by natural or political disaster, a soldier on the battlefield or an employee performing their job in a hazardous environment.
The application is built to be user friendly and the web portal is built with the caregiver (care professional authorized to view a patient’s information) in mind, displaying and organizing patient information in a neat and easy-to-read manner. The product has created an architecture that is easy to use, patient-focused, reliable and secure. The Adhere2Care model allows seamless transfer of data across multiple platforms and devices with the push of a button. In addition, Adhere2Care is committed to security of information, using the highest levels of encryption technology to protect data in the MEDIC System. SNNLive caught up with John Hoggle, President of Adhere2Care, at SEMDA 2014 Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA.
In John Hoggle’s own words, he describes his company as a, “telehealth company that basically has two platforms. We have a cellular platform that connects information from patients, from soldiers on the battlefield, and from first-responder groups as they are searching for casualties. Our application has been tried out in the Navy lab out in San Diego and it’s also been trialed in the Joint Chief of Staff’s lab up in Suffolk, Virginia. It’s passed with flying colors in both of those situations.” Furthermore, they are now, “entering the hospital marketplace and we will be taking care of patients that have chronic diseases like heart failure, diabetes, and COPD.”
Using his job experience in remote monitoring of patients and awareness of the changing marketplace, Hoggle came to, “understand [that] the patient in their home is very isolated and basically they look for equipment, devices, and people that they can talk with when they’re having a situation developing with their health. They really want to stay in their home, they don’t want to have to travel 30 miles to a physician, 50 miles to a hospital. So basically the concept of what we are doing is brought about by the need and desire to help those patients. At the same time, we have the best medical system in the world… and if you can hook the patient and the doctor together, then there is a need for that. So we developed our system based on saving lives and saving money to the healthcare system.”
To conclude, Hoggle believes that after working since 1997 on the intricacies of this system, “what we are beginning to see is light at the end of the tunnel. Basically, more and more insurers are looking at it now saying ‘This is one of the answers to saving money in our healthcare system.’Physicians are beginning to view it now as an added tool in the care of the patient. So we think over the next 18-24 months, we are going to see a shift from a service that people looked at and said ‘That’s too far in the future for us’ to a service that is going to be demanded because it is so needed.” For more information about Adhere2Care, check out their website at http://adhere2care.com/
