The SurgGripper™ is the flagship product of Nichols-Reeves Enterprises, LLC. The SurgGripper™ has the potential to establish Nichols-Reeves Enterprises, LLC as a player in the medical device market. The SurgGripper™ is constructed of sterilized foam and is fully customizable and adaptable to the surgical technician. The density of the foam allows for greater stability of the surgical instruments. The SurgGripper™ is a new medical product that has the ability to link several departments and several needs of the hospital together. Nichols-Reeves Enterprises, LLC is committed to redefining the medical industry by establishing major hospital initiatives.
The SurgGripper™ helps reduce operating room time, decrease infections, and curtail expenses caused by lost instrumentation. Large hospitals all across the U.S. spend millions of dollars to address these very issues. The SurgGripper™ is a small, simple and inexpensive product that can help address these major issues in today’s medical facilities. SNNLive caught up with Christopher Reeves, MD, CEO of Nichols-Reeves Enterprises about The SurgGripper at SEMDA 2014 Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA.
Beginning with an explanation of his flagship product, Christopher Reeves describes the SurgGripper as a, “surgical instrument holder.” The way it works is by using a, “semi-circle sterilizable piece of foam that has pre-cut slots in it that holds and secures the instruments whenever they are needed.” Reeves believes that there is a need for their product in order to, “decrease the amount of instruments that are lost, damaged, or have infection-control problems. If a surgeon is operating and an instrument that is needed falls on the floor, they’ll have to open another tray, which costs a lot of money, or they have to flash it in the autoclave, which can take time.” To conclude, Reeves believes that there is a large potential for their product because “the market size is the size of every single surgery that occurs in the United States. There’s roughly about 60 to 80 million surgeries in the United States and this product could be useful in every last one of those. In terms of dollars, I’d say it could be 100 to 200 million dollar market.”For more information about the SurgGripper, check out their website at http://surg-gripper-mept.squarespace.com/.
