SNNLive spoke with Allan Hytowitz from DYOP Vision Associates, LLC at SEMDA 2014 Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA. “We have developed and discovered a opto-typ, a vision testing concept that is three times as precise as what doctors are using with the biggie on the wall, the Snellen test. It takes less than half the time to do a vision check, you don’t need to be able to read let alone English, we can measure acuity in children as young as five months,” begins Mr. Hytowitz. He continues, “We’ll be using color contrast images because the diameter of the image determines what your acuity is and you see colors at different distances that you see black and white images with the same diameter.”
“It will be available on a computer monitor where you look at the images except you’ll have three times the precision” explains Mr. Hyowitz. He adds, “The doctors using projected Snellen tests, you know, like on the wall, are actually making their patients blinder but they don’t know that yet.” For more information, check out their website at www.dyopvision.com.
