Brent Cook is an independent exploration analyst with 30 years of experience in both property economics and geology evaluations. Brent received a BSc in geology from Utah State University in 1978. As a seasoned geologist, Brent's knowledge spans all areas of the mining business from the conceptual stage through to detailed technical and financial modeling related to mine development and production. He has worked in over 60 countries and in virtually all geological environments, analyzing and providing commentary on proposed mine sites. In this Wall Street View, our host and Brent Cook, Exploration Insights, discuss Global Warming at the Canadian Investor Conference 2014 in Vancouver, BC.
“Amongst the scientists there’s really not much debate as to whether the earth’s atmosphere is warming or that it’s not. It’s being caused by the burning of hydro-carbons for the most part. I think that’s pretty well established in the legitimate scientific literature,” begins Mr. Cook. He continues, “Bottom line, the increase in co2 in the atmosphere is dominantly being done by the burning of hydro-carbons and they know this because of the ratio of the two isotopes – carbon isotopes.”
Mr. Cook explains, “Weather is only a function of the energy into the system. I think that what’s important to remember is heat is energy. In the Earth’s atmosphere and weather is the Earth’s means of redistributing that energy.” He adds, “Just to make sense, the more energy there is, the more you gotta redistribute it and the more violent and unpredictable the weather’s going to become.” For more information, check out their website at www.explorationinsights.com.
