Paradigm Environmental Technologies Inc. is a private company headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Paradigm provides innovative products for wastewater treatment plants to significantly reduce waste sludge for disposal, increase the throughput of anaerobic digesters, and efficiently convert waste sludge into renewable energy and other bio-products. Paradigm’s products reduce a treatment plant’s environmental footprint, including greenhouse gas emissions and waste to incinerators or landfills. SNNLive spoke with Rob Stephenson, Ph.D., CTO of Paradigm Environmental Technologies, Inc. at the Canadian Investor Conference 2014 in Vancouver, BC.
Dr. Stephenson explains how Paradigm has a, “technology that takes sludge, which is a byproduct of treating wastewater in many industries and turns that sludge into renewable natural gas and reduces and reduces the waste for disposal…We use something called a high-pressure homogenizer, the same thing you use to make ketchup or peanut butter and we use it for bacteria, we break the bacteria apart like big water balloons and they go splat and what’s left over can be turned into natural gas very quickly.” He states the different ways to get rid of sludge, “There’s three options to get rid of sludge right now, they can land apply it on farmers lands or forest lands, they can put it in a landfill, or they can burn it. Each one of those solutions is expensive.” SNNLive welcomes Rob Stephenson, Ph.D., CTO of Paradigm Environmental Technologies, Inc.
