Computational Imaging of Brain Organization Research Group (CIBORG) laboratory specializes in mathematical and numerical methods to study brain anatomy and function though magnetic resonance imaging. These methods are applied to furthering the understanding of different neurological disorders, as well as normal and abnormal brain development. The company spans all ages from before birth at the fetal stages to elderly adults and every age in between. The company has also been developing software to automate radiologists’ tasks and move the field from the current qualitative assessments to quantitative ones. Being a part of a nationally renowned hospital, they work with physicians on a day-to-day basis to ensure our software provides the most optimal solution to unmet clinical needs. SNNLive spoke with Natasha Lepore, PhD from Click Brain at First Look LA 2014 presented by LAVA in Los Angeles, CA.
“Click Brain is a software that the radiologists uses to look at children’s brain and understand better whether the child is developing normally and if there’s any potential problems that then the neurologist needs to look at,” begins Natasha Lepore. She continues, “So what the software does is that it actually looks at children’s brain MRI and it compares it to other children of the same age and sees how far each regions of the brain are developing compared to a normal child.”
Natasha Lepore explains, “It’s not a diagnostic software, so it’s an aid to the radiologist it’s helping the radiologist and neurologist diagnose better.” She adds, “We’re focusing right now on 0 to 5 years old but eventually we’re going to look both at older age ranges and also we just fired a specialist that works on fetuses and so we’re also going to expand into the fetal range in the near future.
