“CaliCast takes traditional casting, the simple wrapping method. We use blue light activated polymers to create a very thin, porous and strong cast that can be worn in the water, you can shower, you can bathe, its breathable, it doesn’t get moldy, it dries very quickly and profile nature of the cast allows one to be active, put clothing over it and really go about their normal life” begins Emily Loughran. SNNLive spoke with Emily Loughran from CaliCast at First Look LA 2014 presented by LAVA in Los Angeles, CA.
She continues, “Underneath the porous exoskeleton, is a sleeve that is super wicking and anti-microbial, it’s something similar to Under Armor, it’s got some anti-microbial particles in it that helps keep the water away from the skin and also makes sure it doesn’t get moldy underneath the second layer.”
Emily Loughran explains, “The two competitors out there simply provide a waterproof liner under fiberglass that still it can mold, it doesn’t dry out quickly. So really the mechanism for CaliCast is that it’s like a wetsuit, the water goes in and out, it dries out very quickly, it’s close to the skin but it does not irritate the skin so you don’t have any of the itching, you don’t have any of the molding, any of the smelling.” SNNLive welcomes Emily Loughran from CaliCast.
