URB-E is a foldable scooter conceived as a first and last mile solution with a 15 mile range on a single charge, a top speed of 15mph, and folds small enough to fit next to you on a train or bus. URB-E is made from recyclable aircraft grade aluminum that has been machined to reduce all but the essential material for a maximum weight reduction and reveal the iconic hole pattern, similar to how race cars and aircraft are built. URB-E has many beneficial features such as an integrated luggage rack, a patented folding mechanism and a shock absorbing seat for an extremely comfortable ride, led lighting, and replaceable color sleeve inserts for creating a personalized look.
It also has an option to be a three-wheel trike version for more stability in slower moving pedestrian traffic, or a more aggressive two wheel GP edition for a little more freedom and excitement. There is also an integrated universal smartphone mount with a custom app being developed to monitor URB-E’s speed, battery, range, and navigation, as well as being able to charge your phone and other devices with the integrated USB port. SNNLive spoke with Grant Delgatty, Co-Founder/CEO of Ecological Mobility Solutions, Inc. at the PortTech LA Expo 2014 in San Pedro, CA.
Mr. Delgatty begins with an update of the company, “This has been quite an amazing year for us, in fact when we did see you [last year], originally the product was called EGO and we were trying to figure out a way to get that trademarked and it wasn’t going to happen for us and so we subsequently went through ha series of names and we were able the name URB-E which we actually like a lot better, it stands for urban electric.”
“It’s a very compact electric vehicle that goes about fifteen to twenty miles on a charge. It’s a lithium-ion battery, it’ll do 15 miles per hour top speed, takes about four hours to charge” explains Mr. Delgatty. For more information, check out the website at www.urb-e.com.
