SNNLive spoke with Chris Reed, CEO/Founder of Reed's, Inc. at Singular Research's 9th Annual "Best of the Uncovereds" Conference 2014 in Bel Air, CA.
Mr. Reed begins with an overview of the company, “We reinvigorate or brought back a brewing process for ginger ale that was in vogue two hundred years ago. So I dug through the history books, found these old ginger ale brewing processes, brewed up root beer too and we started producing them for the natural food industry. Within a year we were the number one selling soda and we’ve been the coke of natural foods for the last 25 years.”
He then goes into Reed’s performance in 2014 and what he’s looking forward to in 2015, “This will be our first profitable year, in 2014, 15 is going to be much more profitable. We’ve crossed that cover-your-nickel kind of threshold. We actually think we’ll make about four million dollars next year and we will spend about two million of it on advertising, so for the first time we’re going to start doing a lot more advertising.”
“We just launched – we make kombucha, we just launched the new flavor which is coffee kombucha. So kombucha is a kind of a probiotic culture grown in tea.” Reed’s has also previously released a line of ginger candies and are continuously looking to expand their product market. He concludes by announcing that they are tripling production and the speed of the line in LA and bringing a new facility in the east coast which will support business sales up to about 120 million.
