Chanticleer Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: HOTR) is a public company that owns and operates restaurant brands in the U.S. and abroad. Chanticleer owns and operates Hooters branded restaurants in emerging international markets. Hooters is one of the most well-known restaurant brands in the world and has a menu which consists of moderately-priced American bar food and the world-famous Hooters girls. The company currently owns in whole or part of the exclusive franchise rights to develop and operate Hooters restaurants in Australia, South Africa, Europe, and northwest U.S. (Oregon and Washington), while evaluating several additional opportunities internationally. Chanticleer also owns and operates American Burger Co., a Charlotte, NC based chain and owns a majority interest in Just Fresh Restaurants, a fresh food-focused casual dining establishment based in Charlotte, NC. The Company continues to evaluate opportunities to grow both organically and through franchising opportunities for its brands. SNNLive spoke with Mike Pruitt, President and CEO of Chanticleer Holdings, Inc. at the SeeThruEquity Winter MicroCap Conference 2015 in New York City, NY.
Mike Pruitt begins with an overview of the company, “Today the company has 26 locations, which has more than tripled since the last time we met. Those 26 locations are made up of 13 hooters, 11 of which are international and then we bought a burger concept called American Roadside Burger that was started right down the road here in Long Island, which has 6 locations and then we have a healthier eating concept in Charlotte called Just Fresh, which has 7 locations and so we’ve announced that we are currently have two acquisitions under letter of intent in the Better Burger category and so we’re really excited about with the near-term and the long-term future has for Chanticleer."
He discusses Hooter’s competition in both the domestic and international markets, “Well, certainly internationally no, domestically we do. I mean there’s a lot of places you can go watch sporting events on TV, you know I’d make the case they’re not served by our world famous Hooters Girls, but there is competition. Internationally we have not found the competition either from a sports bar experience or even better yet, served by the world famous Hooters Girls. So we internationally have not seen any competition so we really enjoyed the success in Australia and South Africa, we think we have plenty more opportunity for that.”
He concludes, “Hooters, the parent company will most likely have a new owner, to be determined whether we’ll still be part of that ownership group. It will certainly – we’ve already announced just in the last six weeks a 30 store agreement in the Far East and Honduras and Nicaraguan and Latin America, and then you know obviously what we’re doing, we have a lot of growth ahead of us.” For more information, check out their website: www.ChanticleerHoldings.com
