Mantra Venture Group Ltd. (OTCQB: MVTG) is a clean technology incubator that takes innovative emerging technologies and moves them towards commercialization. The company, through its subsidiary Mantra Energy Alternatives Ltd., is currently advancing a state-of-the-art carbon capture and utilization technology referred to as the “electro-reduction of carbon dioxide”, or ERC.
ERC has been under development since 2001 when Professor Colin Oloman began investigating it as a potential commercial technology at the University of British Columbia’s Clean Energy Research Centre. Acquiring the intellectual property in 2008, Mantra Energy has continued to develop ERC, which is now on the path towards mass commercial application. SNNLive spoke with Larry Kristof, CEO/Founder of Mantra Venture Group Ltd. at the LD Micro Invitational 2014 in Bel Air, CA.
“We’re focused on cleantech and we’ve got a couple of very disruptive technologies in that industry. One is a co2 conversion technology, it utilizes co2 from industrial sources and converts that waste into another industrial compound called formic acid,” begins Mr. Kristof.
He continues, “The second is a fuel cell technology that uses the chemical product that we make – formic acid, as a fuel for this fuel cell. It’s also very disruptive because it costs approximately 50% cheaper than any of the other fuel cells that are on the market today.”
Mr. Kristof explains, “Renewable energy doesn’t work without energy storage, so today we’re creating this mass excess into renewable energy.” He adds, “Energy storage is where the money is going, you can see that by who’s investing into it – Bill Gates is one of the leaders in investing into energy storage.” For more information, check out their website at http://mantraenergy.com/
