On Wednesday, when the President announced moves to normalize diplomatic and economic ties with Cuba, I imagined old American cars, the best cigars in the world, The Godfather scenes in Havana, the Beard, and great beaches.
Today I am thinking about going to Cuba as quickly as possible to experience the old world of Cuba, and smoke a Cohiba on the beach because, within a NY minute, modernization will be overwhelming.
Tomorrow, Cuba is a whole amazing proposition. From Tourism to agriculture, from infrastructure improvements to financial growth, the US business community is off and running, booking trips as this item is published.
I predict a surge in MicroCap company growth in Cuba and an increase in South Florida's economy like never seen before. Cuba is about to experience a modern day industrial revolution across all sectors of the market, which will be fueled by US investors on such a large scale our heads will spin. Which investment banker will do the first Cuban IPO? How many MicroCap companies will opt to establish offices and factories in Cuba? Is GM shipping Volts to the new Havana showrooms? Which real estate mogul will build the first new skyscraper since Fidel took over? In five years, we will not recognize the Cuba of today.
As a baseball fan I want to start a minor league franchise in Havana. Maybe I will call them the Havana Bananas or the Havana Yankees - either way, the opening of Cuba will go from thaw to boiling hot in one day. One day soon, Cubans will abandon their cubano sandwiches for hamburgers. By the way is Fidel 100 years old yet?
