Global Trek Xploration Corp (OTC: GTXO) is a holding company that owns and operates three subsidiaries engaged in the burgeoning $17 billion wearable technology business. GTX was founded in 2002, became publicly traded in 2008, and is currently headquartered in Los Angeles with distributors in Canada, Mexico, Australia, Nepal and Switzerland that serve customers in 162 countries and counting. GTX Corp® utilizes the latest in miniaturized, low power consumption technology and offers a robust GPS and cellular location platform that enables subscribers to track in real time the whereabouts of people, pets, vehicles or high valued assets through a complete end to end - customizable GPS/GPRS transceiver module, wireless connectivity gateway, Smartphone Apps, middleware, and viewing portal. SNNLive spoke with Patrick Bertagna, CEO and Founder of GTX Corp. at the LD Micro "Main Event" 2014 in Bel Air, CA.
Mr. Bertagna begins with an overview of the company, “We’re in the location-based wearable technology business and we make miniaturized GPS tracking solutions for people that have a tendency to wander. So people with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autism, and what we do is we put that technology inside of an orthotic insole. So it’s seemless to the wearer and it’s really just a value-added peace of mind for the caregiver.”
He explains how the technology differs from other technologies in the space, “The technology has been in existence for a good ten years or so, I mean we all know we have GPS in cars and in planes and trucks and so forth. What we’ve done that’s different and novel and unique is the packaging, we imbedded technology in a very consumer friendly product – an orthotic, an insole. So you’re not stigmatizing the wearer.”
He concludes by looking forward to 2015, “The horizon looks fantastic, we have a backlog of orders right now, we’re pretty much sold out throughout the first quarter, so we’ll have a better indication of Q2,Q3,Q4 starting next month, but as of right now it looks really good. All of our distributors have already sold out their allocation, we’ve got a backlog of consumer products and we're in multiple test facilities right now with very large institutions across the globe.” For more information, check out their website: www.GTXCorp.com
