Montero Mining and Exploration Ltd. (MON.V: TSX-V) is a mineral exploration and development company focused on the development of their flagship Wigu Hill Rare Earth Element Project in Tanzania. Dr. Harwood is, “an economic geologist with 30 years of international exploration and mining experience…appointed President and CEO of Montero Mining & Exploration in June, 2009″, according to the website. Prior to Montero, Dr. Harwood was, “President and CEO of Africo Resources Ltd.” and “between 2000 and 2006, he served as a Vice President of Placer Dome Inc.”

The Wigu Hill Rare Earth Element Project is a light rare earth element deposit with, “€œa resource of over 3 million tons”€, and as he states, “we have embarked on a great deal of metallurgical work.” The company has released an update on the mineral processing and hydrometallurgical testwork on the carbonate from the Wigu Hill Rare Earth Project in Tanzania, as well as strengthened the Montero technical team to advance the mineral processing and Hydrometallurgical Work on the Ore from the Wigu Hill Rare Earth Project in Tanzania.

In addition to the work the company is doing on their Wigu Hill Project, Montero has filed its NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate for the Duyker Eiland Phosphate Project in the Western Cape Province in South Africa, and that a Preliminary Economic Assessment at the Duyker Eiland Project is underway, according to the most recent press releases.
