The Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore was created to serve as a not-for-profit economic development organization led by a partnership of regional business executives, elected government officials and leaders from higher education focused on fostering business retention and development, job creation, workforce development and new investment throughout the Greater Baltimore region. SNNLive spoke Tom Sadowski, President and CEO of Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore at the BioMaryland Booth at the BIO International Convention 2012 in Boston, MA.

“We’re a public/private partnership marketing the Baltimore region as a great place to work, live, learn and invest“, Mr. Sadowski begins. “We’re talking about all the greatScreen shot 2012 08 17 at 10 25 30 AM things that we have in the Baltimore area, and from a Bio standpoint, all the tremendous assets that we have. University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, all great industry, and federal labs and institutions”, he goes on to say. Prior to the Economic Alliance, Tom served as Executive Director of Economic Development for Harford County, Maryland and as Business Development Director in Baltimore County, Maryland. During that time he led the 2005 BRAC win for Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG); published and implemented a regional technology development plan; helped develop a redevelopment strategy for the US Route 40 Corridor; and brokered major development projects including the new Battelle Eastern Science & Technology (BEST) Center in Aberdeen and the 2 million square foot Government and Technology Enterprise (GATE) Office & Technology Park at APG.

“We have a wonderful team. Basically, what we are trying to do is make it easier. Make it easier to connect companies with capital, connect investors to these companies, and make matches, build friends, influence people, help make sure regulations don’t get in the way. In that, we are leaders. We have a global position, global strengths, and competitive advantages that we are all up here trying to leverage. Its a tremendous team, and we are doing good work”, Mr. Sadowski concludes. For more information about the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, check out their website and social networks.
